About 1927 African Tobacco Cinema Artistes Tobacco Cards
Issued out of South Africa.
48 card set of tobacco cards issued by African Tobacco Manufacturers.
Each card measures approximately 2" x 2-1/2".
Very pretty set of cards with hand colored real photos as stated on reverse.
Date of issue appears to be 1927. Murray's Cigarette Card Values states 1926 but the text on reverse of those I've seen mention a number of 1926 film releases and Rudolph Valentino's card specifically refers to his death on August 23, 1926. All that said, late 1926 remains possible as a date of issue. 1927 seems more likely.
Several holes in our gallery and checklist as originally published below, but I found the lot of these which I received so beautiful that I felt this page warranted creation even if far from complete.
