Rest in piece, Elizabeth Taylor.

KC over at Classic Movies has an excellent round-up of links to obituaries.

I hadn’t planned to post these photos so soon, but I think circumstances called for them to go online today. The following four images are from the group of vintage Mickey Rooney Press Photos I’ve been posting recently, each of these showing the Mick with 12-year-old Elizabeth Taylor in National Velvet (1944).

With Lassie Come Home (1943), Jane Eyre (1943), and The White Cliffs of Dover (1944) already behind her, National Velvet was the movie that made young Liz a big star.

Each of the photos above come with press markings on back including a date stamp of February 25, 1945. Pictured with Mickey and Liz are Anne Revere in the horizontal dinner table scene and Jackie “Butch” Jenkins in the last shot just above.

Turner Classic Movies has already scheduled an entire day of Elizabeth Taylor movies, including National Velvet (7:30 am), on April 10.
