Rest in peace Doris Day, 1922-2019.

My favorite Doris Day movies aren’t really the usual titles, but I’ve always enjoyed her most in The Winning Team (1952), Love Me or Leave Me (1955), and Midnight Lace (1960).

TCM Remembers page currently includes TCM Remembers Doris Day video, plus complete updated schedule for 24-hour tribute to Doris Day airing on June 9.

This weekend I got in a big box of stuff: movie cards, postcards, photos, etc., that included a stack of postcards. My brother-in-law was curious and picked up the postcard pile and immediately asked, “Who’s this?” about the perky blonde actress pictured on the first couple dozen items in the collection. “Oh, that’s Doris Day,” I said, adding, “She’s still alive.”

Anyway, now that she’s passed on, I thought I’d share some of the highlights of that mini-collection. A few of the items are stamped “The Doris Day Club” on back—I believe these came out of a collection of somebody involved with a British chapter of a Doris Day fan club. Included among the pics are what I believe to be three color candids of Day from 1960.

Enough build-up, I’ll add notes below any photos below that call for more information. Hopefully there are a few shots that you haven’t seen before. Enjoy:

Here’s the first of the three candids …

… they all have backs like this one below:

And we’ll finish up with a couple of larger-sized (4-1/2″ X 6-1/4″) photos:

Hope you enjoyed them!

Talk to you tomorrow,
