My 2014 TCM Summer Under the Stars Preview and Recommendations has now published. It provides all of the info found on this page, plus a whole lot more: 2014 Summer Under the Stars Preview & Recommendations
Turner Classic Movies has posted their full tentative schedule for August 2014, better known as their annual Summer Under the Stars month of programming. Summer Under the Stars is my favorite month on the TCM calendar and, as usual, I see plenty to get excited about this year (Lee Tracy on 8/21!).
You can check out the full schedule at the TCM site here – Remember, it is all subject to change at this early date. I’ve listed each star on TCM’s SUTS 2014 calendar immediately below for you:

As with anything TCM-related that I may post about, this schedule applies to the U.S. only.
August is a bit of a down time for my business, typically leading to some extra hours for blogging. I’ve bolded the names I’m most excited about, pretty much guaranteeing I’ll be posting a review, biography or perhaps even Picto-Sked on those days!
More on Summer Under the Stars as we get closer to August.
I hope this finger cross on this schedule boy they shaking little a bit here
I like it, Kelly. Haven’t really focused on the individual titles yet, but Lee Tracy is about as good a choice as they could make for their “pre-Code star.” I’d have preferred someone more obscure rather than Chaplin as the “silent star,” but they seem to go big with that choice every year (I think they did Lillian Gish and Mary Pickford most recently). I didn’t bold them, but I like the days for Dick Powell and Edmond O’Brien and want to give a better look at the schedules for John Hodiak and Arlene Dahl too. My only quibble is probably Ernest Borgnine who it feels like has gotten a couple of days per year since he passed away. He really seems to be a pet of the channel.
Thanks so much for posting this. It’s really helpful how you listed the stars like that. I’m so excited about the Herbert Marshall and Carole Lombard days. Since Marshall was never a big star, I didn’t think they’d ever actually devote a whole day to his movies. I just always hoped they would someday. =)
I’m glad it was helpful. That’s what’s great about Summer Under the Stars, you never know who’s going to get that 24-hour spotlight and there are always pleasant surprises. TCM mixes it up well enough to give almost everybody a day to look forward too. Or a week to ten days for some of us!
Well well Gettv going show Lone Wolf movies in August got the August schedule over there already for Thursday night in August
Love the Lone Wolf and I’ve got those pretty well covered for you (spoiler free) over at my Warren William fan site: http://warrenwilliam.com/tag/lone-wolf/.
Sweet I am so there
Yeah I troll GETTV late last night I think they put up there while I was at work saw that when I came home
Cliff, you just reminded me that John Hodiak could use a little love!
You may have to handle Hodiak, Dorian — he’s slotted in between Herbert Marshall and Claudette Colbert, which should make for a busy few days here!
