This post should be of interest to anybody who sells goods online. My e-mail tells me that would be at least a few of you.

I recently had the pleasure of being a guest on the eCom Connections Talkshoe Radio Show hosted by Kat Simpson and Karen Locker. The subject was Ecwid, the e-commerce platform that I’ve been using to power the Immortal Ephemera Store since July 2010.

Also appearing on the show was Eugene from Ecwid. On the program a free one year subscription to Ecwid was given away, a really nice touch!

Despite that contest you should know Ecwid is one of the more affordable ecommerce solutions out there. Not only is there a free plan but the full featured Silver plan that I subscribe to will only cost you $17 per month. Anybody who’s ever received a monthly bill from eBay knows that’s quite the bargain for your own store!

Yes, there are free solutions out there and over the past decade I’ve tried and used several of them. But while Eugene discusses Ecwid in general, I discuss specifically why Ecwid fits as my solution. If your own business or even hobby selling situation is similar to my own, Ecwid may be your best fit.

In short, my situation is best defined by the following parameters:

I offer a large number of items (thousands!)
At low prices
With few shipping options required.

Besides the interview those points are detailed and hammered home on a special page I’ve added to the site called About the Ecwid E-Commerce Platform.

That page, as this one is to a slightly lesser degree, is designed to lead you to Ecwid through my affiliate links. So if you sign up for their paid plans I do get paid a commission.

That said, I’m really doing my best to show you why I use Ecwid and how it might be right for you if you have similar needs. The key point to remember: Every business is different, so just because your friends and peers use one e-commerce platform as their solution it might not be the one that best fits your needs. Ecwid is just another option, for me the best option. If you’re like me, then it stands a chance of being best for you as well.

My interview on the eCom Connections show should be embedded directly below.

If you’re reading this in your email or RSS reader and that space up above is blank than you can either visit this post on my site to find it HERE or right click THIS LINK and save the mp3 file for later listening.

While Ecwid is the focus of our conversation I also discuss my selling roots, both online and offline, and a little about my blogging and use of social media.

Visit the eCom Connections websiteThe eCom Connections podcast airs new shows live every Monday at 1pm EST. I was on show #61 so they’ve recently celebrated their first anniversary. Congrats!

As you can see by past and upcoming guests, eCom Connections talks about the entire online world for online sellers, not just eBay. Other venues such as Etsy or Bonanza are discussed as is the role of e-commerce role in the world of social media. Weekly guests include specialists from all fields related to small business including representatives from businesses offering solutions to accounting, shipping, inventory management and more.

If this sounds up your alley, well, I’ve probably just filled many hours for you in catching up with their past episodes!
