Colorful set of 32 cards, each measuring approximately 2″ X 3″. These Picture Pageant cards were issued out of Australia by Atlantic Oil circa 1958. An interesting set in that everyone I was looking for–except Marilyn Monroe–was there. Despite there being no Marilyn the sex symbols of the period are well covered between Jayne Mansfield, Brigitte Bardot, even Diana Dors. A pair of Kings also included in Elvis Presley and Clark Gable, plus the Duke, John Wayne.
Quality is a bit odd on these in that they’re printed on a thick white card stock and have such detailed backs that I decided to take the unprecedented step of showing both sides of all 32 cards in the Photo ID Guide below. While Atlantic Oil didn’t seem to skimp on materials the color printing on front leaves a lot to be desired, I can only guess because of the lack of a glossy surface. I looked around for others online and they appear to have the same poor quality color registry as my set on display here does.
