I’m going to put together a detailed Photo ID Guide for the Movie Millions Board Game on things-and-other-stuff.com sometime this weekend, but I just listed the game cards for sale on eBay tonight, so I’ve sorted through them all and what struck me most, besides what I’d term an eclectic mix of stars, was the inclusion of several Hollywood film directors in the game.
While the inclusion of the director cards is a natural for the game, whose purpose is to “actually produce a moving picture with real Movie Stars, a real Director, and a real Scenario,” it is at the same time a rare find for us movie card collectors. Now these cards weren’t actually intended as a film card set, but instead just simply parts to a game, still it gives me a rare chance to offer what I term film cards of some of the men behind the camera (rare at least when you discount cards of those who weren’t actually film actors themselves).
So while there’s plenty more to come regarding the 1938 Movie Millions game on things-and-other-stuff, I wanted to take the chance to use this post to share images of the movie director cards only:
