About the Portrait Gallery of Popular Film Folk
Book with paper covers, unpaginated.
“Portrait Gallery of Popular Film Folk” carries a 1923 copyright date inside and is subtitled “Bringing together a galaxy of Art Photographs of people who have attained high standing in their respective fields of endeavor in the realm of Motion Pictures.”
Pages bound by three staples at left.
There was also a rarer special Souvenir Edition of this same book issued for the Annual Ball for the Motion Picture Directors Association and precisely dated February 17, 1923 on the front cover. I was in possession of the Special Souvenir Edition in October 2003 and have included my archived images of both the cover and title page in the gallery below. The inside contents were exactly the same. The Souvenir edition was also staple bound but additionally had three holes punched near left border so it could be bound with a string.
Inside pages measure 8″ X 10-3/4″.
Contents of the book are divided into the following sections:
63 full page halftone portraits. Each portrait page has blank reverse side. Portraits enhanced by ornate design in borders of each.
9 pages filled with multiple smaller portrait photos of “Prominent Directors.” These pages have images on each side of the page.
1 page showing the “Honorary Members Motion Picture Directors Association.”
