These early movie cards are covered on several other pages of the site:
- Main 1917 Kromo Gravure Page – Includes Checklists of Boxed Sets #1,2,3 plus other variations.
- Kromo Gravure Set #4 – I didn’t become aware of the 4th set of cards until long after the others. Based on availability of the years I’m under the impression that they’re somewhat rarer than the other 3 sets. Print quality of the cards from Set #4 does not seem as good as the earlier boxed sets.
I recently purchased all 4 of the boxed sets–unfortunately the cards were loose, so I couldn’t sort them by set (that’s done on the pages above at this time), but I could finally create a gallery showing off all 200 Kromo Gravure Movie Star Cards. The cards were issued in four boxed sets of 50 cards each from a period ranging approximately 1917 through 1920.
Cards measure approximately 2-1/8″ X 3-1/2″, black and white images with white borders, facsimile signatures across cards, blank white backs. Unnumbered.
