TCM TV Alerts through tomorrow at 7 am:
These titles play on TCM's US schedule and all quoted times are for my own local Eastern time zone.
—We left off with The Wind (1928), which is playing right now if you happen to read this around the time it mailed. Up next at 8:30 am Eastern is The Squall, described to me Monday by one subscriber as "an appalling atrocity," and yeah, I don't remember it being too good, but we both agree that it's worthwhile for Myrna Loy, still in the exotic vamp phase of her career. My DVR kicks on at 10:15 am for Rain or Shine (1930), a Frank Capra movie I don't believe I've seen. Joan Crawford is up next in Rain (1932) at 12 noon, followed by a John Ford title I've never been able to get into, The Hurricane (1937) at 2:00 pm.
—Prime Time TCM programming features Dick Powell movies, but later, 1950s Dick Powell, so I'm probably going to watch a ball game.
—Wednesday morning begins with Douglas Fairbanks the elder in The Private Life of Don Juan (1934) at 6:30 am. We pick up from there tomorrow.
I was going to polish off my review of The Wedding Night (1935) tonight, but figure another day or two on that one. Baseball fans will understand that this Yankee fan wanted to see the home team take on "King Felix," but that one left me with more time on my hands than I had planned! At any rate, overnight Monday is proceeding as planned, as I'm almost done with work on Classic Movie Daily and then I can get back to my work on my Helen Twelvetrees biography. It's coming along at a pretty good pace now.
So I tried out a "Flash Review" for Classic Movie Daily subscribers a couple of weeks ago. Let's give an even shorter format a shot, call it a "Lightning Review" -
The Life of Vergie Winters (1934)
This lightning review has been moved to its own dedicated post HERE.
If memory serves, many more birthdays tomorrow. Review of The Wedding Night a possibility, call it 50/50. Talk to you then —
Cliff
